Over the summer term we enjoyed exploring the life cycle of butterflies. This involved watching the caterpillars change from chrysalis to butterflies. The children would arrive at nursery excited to see what changes or developments had occurred over night.  Once the butterflies had emerged the children released them into the garden.

The upper school attended two trips, one to the London Aquarium and the other to Godstone Farm. This was part of their topics Under the Sea and Farm Animals. The children were fascinated by the different varieties of sea life and the opportunity of coming up close and personal to the sharks and stingrays and also exploring the texture of the starfish and sea horse

At Godstone Farm the children enjoyed the tractor ride around the farm and petting the animals such as the rabbits, chicks, calves and lambs.

Whilst it has been an enjoyable time, it has been tinged with sadness as we said goodbye to our older children who left us to attend big school. We however celebrated their achievements with a Graduation Ceremony attended by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers. The Ceremony was conducted by the children who welcomed their family, thanked their staff and read poems and sang confidently and independently about their time at Riverside Nursery. Children made and wore mortar boards and were presented with a graduation diploma.
This was followed by an afternoon tea party with special treats.
